Víðgelmir is by far the largest known of all lava caves in Iceland. It has beautiful ice formations that change constantly all year around and due to a unique formation in the lava, the ice can even close the cave completely. Deep inside there are many spaces with well-preserved lava stalactites and stalagmites. Bones and jewels from the year 1100 have been found inside.
